Our #1 Most Popular Post: 75 Things You Can Negotiate

It’s getting warmer out, we’re starting to see the light at the end of a very long pandemic tunnel, and many of us are asking “what’s next?”.

Which makes THIS the perfect time to share our #1 most popular download: our list of 75 things we’ve helped women negotiate 🡨 click here to download!

There are two in particular I’d like to highlight: sabbaticals and extra vacation days.  It has been a long, hard road, especially for women.  Reshma Saujani, of Girls Who Code, highlighted this in her book Pay Up

  • Health researchers suggest we work no more than 34 hours a week
  • 66% of American women work more than that
  • And that’s BEFORE the 5.7 hours we spend doing unpaid house labor… daily

If you are in the stage (and mental place) where you are excited to lean in – ROCK ON!  We are cheering for you.

But, if you are in a more tender place, where you have given everything you have to get through the past two years, then perhaps consider taking a break.  There has never been a better time.

  • 11M open jobs in the United States
  • In the current environment, it will likely cost your employer up to twice as much to replace an open role as to retain the person in it (YOU!)
  • So employers are HIGHLY incentivized to keep as many roles as possible filled, and most are willing to give extra flexibility to do so

You can broach this topic with your employer using our Communal Ask Formula:

Past Performance + Future Vision + Ask + Stop Talking 😊

“As you know, last year I delivered X number of completed projects, one of the highest on the team.  I am on track to deliver even more this year.  However, the past two years have been a sprint and I need to take care of myself.  I’d like to propose a two-week sabbatical so that I can continue delivering as much impact as possible to this company.  What do you think?’

Recently I was talking with a corporate client about a new leadership development program for their female employees.  It was suggested we launch this summer and she eloquently said, “No.  This summer is about encouraging our employees take vacation.  Because they haven’t in two years.”
