Why did you originally start exploring other options?

I loved my job, but I had been at the same place for 15 years and I needed to force myself to see what else was out there. 

How did you feel when you got the first offer?

Thrilled about the company and the work itself, and knew in my gut it was the job I wanted.  The compensation package was just too low – there was another opportunity with a much larger compensation package, so I needed them to come up a bit to make it work. I wanted to be excited about the whole package and not have regrets, or feel like I had to settle.

What things did you decide to negotiate? Why those things?

Equity, base comp and geographic flexibility during the pandemic so that I wasn’t upending my family in such a crazy time.

How did you feel in between?

Very nervous, lots of anxiety. I took a week or two for them to get back to me and I was so nervous they were regretting the initial offer.

How did Worthmore help you?

How did you feel once you got the second offer?

Great! It was the total package I was excited about – great company, great role, getting paid what I was worth and it was the right thing for my family.

If you think about the change between the first and final offer – what kind of difference will this make for you? How does this impact your life?

I’m completely pumped about my new role! There’s no longer a doubt in my mind that they value me as much as I valued them. It’s sort of like dating – it felt like I was chasing them, and then it became mutual. 

What would you tell someone considering working with Worthmore on their negotiation?

It’s worth 10x what you will pay. You are guaranteed to extract the value in the first 5 minutes of your new job. Literally no regrets.
